About
the Festival
The recorded
history of Talgarth reveals that since 1292, when Bishop of St
David's granted the Town market and Fair Rights, there have been
annual gatherings in the town. The current Festival follows this
tradition celebrating the 13th anniversary of it's latest reincarnation
in August 2008.
Talgarth Festival of the Black Mountains is a 'free' summer festival
located all around the small market town of Talgarth in Mid Wales.
Based on the Town Square it caters for a variety people, ages
and interests.
A celebration
of food, farming, music and the countryside. We provide free
entry, free parking and, on the whole, free entertainment. So
please do take some time to browse our programme, it may just
be worth your while.
About
the Committee
Talgarth
Festival is organised and run solely by volunteers, most of which
are committee members. Others help out during the weekend and
a few days either side with the more physical side of the festival
such as erecting marquees, transporting chairs, counting ducks,
etc.
Meetings are
held once a month throughout the year to organise this annual
festival.
We are always
looking for new people to join the group, whether as a committee
member or simply to help with supervising rides, directing visitors,
selling programmes, working on the Box Office or sparing an hour
or two to relieve others on the weekend.
Why not join the committee which meets on the third Tuesday of
each month at 7pm in Talgarth Town Hall Committee Room. A great
way of socialising and making new friends as well as supporting
the community.
The Committee
welcomes and considers all entertainers/performers/groups/traders/stallholders
who approach us in regard to attending the festival, so please
get in touch.
We welcome all
feedback concerning the festival and suggestions for future years.
We would be particularly interested if you have any interesting
photos/information that we could use for the festival website/records.
Please get in touch, we look forward to hearing from you.
